American Water Scholarship Presented to Massachusetts Student

American Water announced last month that Joe Goodwill, a doctoral student at the University of Massachusetts ? Amherst, has been chosen as the recipient of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) 2013 American Water Scholarship. The scholarship is an annual award of $5,000 presented to a graduate level student to assist with the development of professionals interested in service to the water industry.

EPA?s McCarthy Confirmed by Senate, Sworn In

Last month, the Senate confirmed Gina McCarthy as the new administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency by a vote of 59 to 40. Previously, McCarthy has served as chief of the EPA?s Office of Air and Radiation that develops policies and regulations for limiting air pollution and radiation exposure. She has also served as commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
